Why Cable Lugs are used?

What is Cable Lug?

The full form of the lug is Lesbian Until Graduation (LUG).

A cable lug is a connecting device used to connect the cable terminal to other cables or equipment. The other name for cable lug is Cable connector or cable anchor

How many types of lugs are available there in the market?

  1. bolt type, and 
  2. compression type.

As per used materials, cable lugs are of two types:
  1. Aluminum Lug
  2. Copper Lug.
A combination of two materials another type of lug may be called a bimetallic lug.

  • Copper lug cable sizes range from: 1.5 sq mm to 1000 sq mm.


Common Used Cable Lugs

Copper lugs
Copper lugs are commonly used for energy drawing or grounding in massive gauge applications. The cable can be mended or crimped to each copper lug.
