Electrical extension cord necessity is endless until invented wireless electricity which is not available in the near future.

Safety tips to use an electrical extension cord

An electrical extension cord is used as an additional loose cable, so there is a chance to happen an electrical accident at any time. The user must be careful to avoid any incident. The common tip is to use a safe extension cord.
  1. Always unplug extension cords when they’re not in use;
  2. Avoid using overload extension cords or running through water or snow on the ground;
  3. Avoid substituting extension cords for permanent wiring;
  4. Avoid running through walls, doorways, ceilings, or floors;
  5. Avoid using an extension cord for multiple appliances at the same time;
  6. Avoid chaining multiple extension cords, use multiple plug outlets directly into mounted electrical receptacles;
  7. Make sure the extension cord is rated for the products to be plugged in, and is marked for either indoor or outdoor use;
  8. Ensure the appliances that are using the cord have the same or lower wattage rating on it;
  9. Never use a cord that feels hot or is damaged in any way;
  10. Never cut the grounding slot or use three-prong plugs with outlets that only have two slots for the plug; 
  11. Use extension cords with polarized and/or three-prong plugs;
  12. Buy only cords approved by an independent testing laboratory.
Please keep in mind that the continuous using over time, an extension cord can rapidly deteriorate, creating a potentially dangerous electric shock or fire hazard.
