Wireless Electrical Energy Transmission

WEET, wireless electrical energy transmission is now an issue to transfer electrical power on large-scale and longer distances; because wireless energy transfer system is not a new question. Electrical energy transmission networking systems already use wireless energy transfer technology or unlike direct electrical connection. WEET system will be clear if you review your knowledge about the basic working principle of electrical transformers.

Now today’s target is to transfer electricity without wire from the source to the consumer’s end on a large scale. Already there are many demonstrations and operational stuff regarding wireless electricity transfer on a normal scale, like- mobile battery chargers, operating TV, laptops, etc. devices.

What Is the Wireless Electrical Energy Transmission Technology?

Engineers’ are searching for a practical technology to transmit electrical energy from one to other without wire. The provable technologies like Inductive-coupling, Capacitive-coupling, Magneto dynamic-coupling, Resonant Inductive-coupling, Microwave, and Light-waves may be reasonable for future wireless electrical energy transfer projects.

The wireless electrical energy transmission idea is not new today. Scientists are thinking about this for a long. From the beginning of the 18th century scientists Ande-Mare Ampere, Michael Faraday, James Clark Maxwell, John Henry Poynting, Heinrich Rudolf Hertz, and Nikola Tesla worked and developed well-known theories and equations.

Nikola Tesla using his Tesla Coil (which is actually a ‘radio frequency resonant transformer’ that produces high voltage, high-frequency alternating current) demonstrated that wireless electrical energy transmission is possible.

What is the limitation to transmitting wireless electricity?

There are so many projects and many people are trying to explain the success story of wireless electrical energy transmission, but the actual situation still it is not possible to transmit a significant amount.

So, we can say that wireless transmission is possible, but its efficiency degrades dramatically as more distance is added. Even we found an inductive electric toothbrush where electricity transmits without wires across a very normal distance- a few microns' but loses twice the electricity in transmission than transmit through a wire.

In another story, there is a wireless energy transmission project in Ukraine that uses some crazy low-frequency geomagnetic resonant local area emission antennas that provide near-lossless wireless power transmission. The significant limitations of electricity transmission without wires are as below:

  • Transmitter and receiver: If we want to transmit a large quantity of electrical energy, the transmitter and receiver plates/coils should be large enough to transmit and receive such high power, in practice, it will be difficult to construct;

  • Frequency: Where our electricity frequency is 50 or 60 Hz, but for wireless power transmission, the operating frequency required is so high from a few kHz to MHz. normal and high-frequency circuits and devices are very complex to design as well as costly;

  • Range and efficiency: Wireless power transmission range is very limited. The efficiency is about 90% to 95% when the transmitter and the receiver are very close to each other- a few microns'. But as the distance increases, the efficiency decreases exponentially;

  • Heat: When operating with much higher frequencies and power, heating issues are involved. Proper heat insulation and heat sinking should be done which may cause increased cost however because of the poor investment climate and inefficient governance this project can't find investments and remains on a lab-prototype level. The prototype is still open for demonstration at National Aviation University.

Wireless Technology in Bangladesh-2019

No need to use his or her smartphone port to charge the phone. Because of the wireless facilities, the charge is placed on the power bank when the phone is placed. There are benefits to the Energizer Power Bank. Tech Republic Limited is bringing the Power Bank of Energizer to a Wi-Fi facility in the market in the country. Tech Republic is working as a domestic distributor of the US company Energizer.

Tech Republic's managing director HM Faiz Morshed said that during a visit to Taiwan last month, the Energizer expressed interest in coming to Bangladesh. Their power bank is coming to the country in August. Power Bank of the Max, Hitech, and Ultimate series of Energizer will be available. Besides the Wi-Fi facility, the power bank will have USB, Type C, and Micro USB ports. As a result, the phone charge of any model and brand can be given with ease.
