Regulation of a Transformer is Helpful for Systems?

 What is the Regulation of a Transformer?

The regulation of the transformer menses the voltage regulation of a transformer.
 
So, the voltage regulation of a transformer may define as a transformer voltage regulation is the percentage change of the output voltage from no-load to full-load. 

Please remember that since the power factor is a determining factor in the secondary voltage, so power factor influences the voltage regulation of the transformer. 

So for example, if a single-phase transformer has an open-circuit no-load terminal voltage is 100 volts and the same terminal voltage drops to 95 volts due to the power factor on the application of a connected load, the transformers voltage regulation would therefore be 0.05 

or 5%, ((100 – 95)/100)*100%).


Formula to Calculate the Transformer Voltage Regulation

Voltage regulation is mainly calculated in the percentage of no-load and full-load values-

The load regulation of the transformer (percent) = 100 x (voltage in no-load — voltage in full-load) divided by voltage -n full-load. 

Please be in mind in practical a transformer, the value of the secondary terminal voltage at no load is always greater than the secondary terminal voltage at full load.
